Giving Away What You Love to Get

There’s an old saying: “You can’t choose your family, so be glad you can choose your friends.”

Well, what about your coworkers?

I’d say coworkers are like family. On some level, you’re stuck with them and have to make the best of it. They may feel the same about you. Coworkers need us at our best—and see us at our worst. They know we’re not perfect. But that’s okay. Like our family members, coworkers should be able to make some mistakes and still have our support.

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. The people we work with are more than a resume, a desk, or a job description. Family member, friend, or coworker—we’re to love that person as God loves us—in the high calling of our daily work.

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work. (Eccl. 4:9)
